| Admissions Recruiter The Colburn School is looking for an Assistant for Admissions and Records!! This Position is located in downtown Los Angeles, CA and reports to the Dean of Conservatory Admissions. Come grow with us! ________________________________________ The Colburn School is a non-profit independent institution located in downtown Los Angeles, consisting of two divisions: a non-degree-granting School of Performing Arts (1400 students and growing) and a degree-granting Conservatory of Music (maximum 110 students). The School of Performing Arts has existed for over 50 years; the Conservatory is in its third year. The Colburn School is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music. We are seeking the right person for this public and visible position for our newly built campus. The position of Assistant for Admissions and Records combines recruiting functions with student records maintenance. The admissions portion of the position includes attending college fairs as the School’s representative, speaking with prospective students and their parents, updating admissions materials (including website text), managing the application and audition processes, and assisting with basic SEVIS tasks. The Assistant must be able to travel extensively, and must be comfortable speaking on behalf of the School. The records portion of the position includes basic data entry and the generation of reports. Training is provided. Specific knowledge of music is not required, but is a definite plus. Essential duties and responsibilities: include the following • Recruiting travel, including 6-7 weeks of travel in the fall and 1-2 weeks in the summer. Travel is normally within the continental United States. • Keeping the School’s website and admissions materials up-to-date with program and audition information. • Tracking ad placement and spending. • Conducting tours for prospective students of the School’s facility when not traveling. • Managing the application process, including file maintenance, extensive e-mail communication to applicants, and accurate database tracking. • Scheduling and coordinating all auditions (currently on-site at the School). • Acting as one of the School’s Designated School Officials (DSO) for the Department of Homeland Security’s SEVIS database. • Entering data and generating reports in the School’s student information system. • Assisting the Associate Dean in registration, grades and graduation processing, academic scheduling, and other start-of-term and end-of-term tasks. • Other duties as assigned. The Admissions Specialist supervises student employees, especially for the processing of application materials and audition day support. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education and/or Experience: Bachelor’s degree required, or equivalent experience; background in music is a strong preference Language skills: Strong proficiency in written and spoken English; proficiency in other languages (particularly Chinese) is a plus Mathematical skills: Basic skills, including the ability to plan and manage a travel budget Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Internet; knowledge of PowerCampus is a plus Other skills, abilities and requirements: • Strong customer service skills, pleasant personality even when under pressure or fatigued • Strong organizational skills, with great attention to details • Good team skills, with ability to act independently • Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license and a good sense of direction Physical demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Employee must be able to travel easily, with suitcase, laptop computer and other materials. Position requires seated work, standing work, computer work, and customer service contact. Must be able to hear, speak and see, and to drive. About 75% of time is in office environment.
