| Procurement Specialist Our client in Southern California, a developer of professional engines , is looking for a Prototype Procurement Supervisor to be a hands-on leader in the sourcing and fabrication of prototype parts for new race engines. This position will be responsible for leading a team of 6 in the identification and sourcing of prototype parts. Working extremely closely with the suppliers, development engineering, and the fabrication center in a highly interactive and fast paced environment. The ideal candidate will have: a minimum of 5 years of prototype procurement experience in an engine build environment, an understanding of MRP systems, able to quickly identify and select new suppliers as project needs change, excellent project and people leadership skills, collaborative decision making and be able to think on their feet. You must enjoy engines and being a hands-on part of the team. Responsibilities include procuring engine components and developing strategies related to vendor sourcing and qualification, vendor terms and conditions negotiations, departmental interfacing and follow up reporting. Requirements include Bachelor's degree or a minimum of 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience with some supervisor and leadership experience preferred. Must have strong negotiation skills; knowledge of supplier management and procurement process in developing contracts/agreements; ability to develop purchasing strategies with respect to quantities and lot sizes; ability to analyze parts drawing and specifications. APICS (CPIM) certification desirable. Hands on experience procuring automotive and engine components, developing annual budgets, forecasting, and business plans are a plus. Must have strong computer skills, be familiar with MRP Logic, and understand parts planning parameters. Bilingual in Japanese is a plus. Must be flexible, have strong communication, organizational and time management skills and have the ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment. This is an R&D facility and prototype parts mean low quantity demands in a tight deadline. | |
